After a hiatus from updates, I finally return. Did you miss me? Well, quite a lot has been going on since my last post, the most important being, school’s over. But we’ll get to that later. So begins my series of anecdotes describing quite possibly the most annoying/difficult week of my life; the week from Hell.
So on Friday (June 2nd), myself and 7 other guys left school early to for the track state meet up in Grand Rapids. On a trip on which the only white person was Coach, there was surely a number of interesting moments. For example, CJ getting into the song Bad Day by Daniel Powter, to the point where it was just wrong (video). And while listening to the radio in Coach Mac’s van, the song I’m In Love With a Stripper played, immediately followed by the same song in which the lyrics were changed…the chorus was now “I got it caught in my zipper”. I’ll leave the rest to your own sick perverted minds. But this was only half the excitement. The actual meet proved to be intense. Going in as underdogs, our team definitely impressed the crowd. We had three guys make the 100m dash finals, including Chris, Jonas and myself. Basically as a team we dominated every sprinting event and scored 65 points alone the sprints while winning every sprint relay. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough, Williamston beat us by 19 points due to the sheer size of their team and the fact that they have distance runners and we don’t.
It was certainly a tough loss especially since we’ve been state runners-up two years in a row now.
Needless to say, absolutely no studying was done on this trip, and my exam performance will reflect that. Exams were really why I called this past week, the week from Hell. Not to mention the fact that I had to take the SAT on Friday and ACT on Saturday. The only benefit of taking the SAT on Friday was that I got to take it in the comfortable College Counseling office, where I got to eat cookies, bagels and gummy bears during the break. All SAT test centers should have that.
The track banquet was fun too. A word of advice when going to such events, If you’re hungry, don’t sit at the same table with fat asses. I made the mistake at sitting at a table with two (way to go Rajen, and Haidar). Anyhow, congratulations to Jonas and Cole for being the new captains to replace Martin and Jon. I’m already looking forward to track season next year…especially since the season ended I’ve become quite a fat ass myself.
I think that basically covers my summer thus far, not that it matters, nor does anyone really care but the next few months should prove to be wild ride. I posted some pics of the aforementioned events in the Photos section. And finally I leave you with the one question I am still debating. Football or no for next fall?
